My Current Research on the Second Gospel

Markan Christology

I am currently working on a monograph for Baker Academic aimed at trying to better understand Mark's presentation of Jesus. The tentative title is, Jesus the Messiah and Son of God: Mark’s Christology in Historical, Literary, & Theological Perspective.

I describe my approach to the text as "historically-situated narrative criticism." As such I want to understand the world of the text against the backdrop of its historical, religious, and ideological worlds.

Projected publication date is 2027.

Markan Themes

Zondervan Academic is relaunching the Word Biblical Themes series---a supplement to the Word Biblical Commentary. I am writing the volume on Mark. Chapters include:
